I just talked to the hospital. Just because her condition isn’t on the list, doesn’t mean they won’t treat her. After they receive her medical records (which should be today) they will send it to the orthopedic team and make a determination on whether or not they can treat her. We should hear back in 1 to 2 weeks.

I also learned that it’s ideally found before the child starts walking, because their legs tend to quickly fracture after they start to walk. But, hers hasn’t fractured, and seems strong. So, I’m trying to find comfort in that.

Also, there are so, so, so many more children who have legs in far, far, worse condition. If she can get to skeletal maturity without a break, then she should have a really good chance at a successful surgery, and union of her leg bones.

I’m no doctor, but I feel a little optimistic. I hope the next week or two passes quickly. I’ll feel better once she sees a doctor with experience in her condition.
