3 weeks, 6 days post-op

(McFarland Bypass done 2/21/2018)

A little rainy today, but we’re going to try and take the train anyway!

(Baby’s 1st train ride!)

Taking the train was so fun, and the food wasn’t bad either.  I loved not being stuck in traffic for hours, and being able to relax.

Hey, when you have a cast, you gotta keep it dry! We looked pretty funny walking those two blocks though! ?

Well, you can probably guess how cast removal went – I wonder if she will ever tolerate it?  WOW.  Now THAT is an incision.  Holy moly!

Okay, x-ray time!  X-rays were not fun to get, because her leg was super sensitive and probably unstable. But she finally let me manipulate her and we got the pictures we needed.

Damn me if that doesn’t look straighter in the Lateral View???

He says it looks good! Right now, we’re looking for “an absence of bad”. Here we see nothing bad to report! Down the road, after her 8 week check we will start looking for actual “good”. ❤️

After X-rays she really started looking at her incisions for the first time.  They were freaking her out a little before, but here she’s starting to touch them a little.

As usual, Dr. Hoffinger insisted on being in charge of her casting.  (Cast #10!)

She really is his little pet project, isn’t he? ? That man is so silly!!!

All done! So we’re headed out to grab lunch and hop on our train, but here’s the plan:
Post-op #3 will be in 4 weeks, (4/17/18)
Before then, I need to attempt to have her old (broken) brace repaired. A day before her post-op appointment, I need to get her cast removed, have her molded for her new brace, and have the split cast put back on. At post-op, we will either go into her old brace (if fixed) or into a short-leg cast. (Assuming an absence of bad). Then she’ll stay in the short-leg cast until her brace is ready.

In the next 4 weeks, we’re looking to just see how much activity she’s down for. I’m to notify them if she starts walking, but not pushing it. ❤️

Today’s appointment was a COMPLETE absence of bad. ❤️❤️❤️

And now, we get to take the train home!  Choo-choo!
