Brace #8 today, and it looks great, and is another new design!
Look at this print! Scooby looks AWESOME! I was pretty surprised- I expected him to be a lot smaller, and the pattern busier. But Amy is happy, so I am as well.
I really, really like our new orthotist. I should have switched a long time ago. ❤️
I’m super happy with this new design. The clamshell on the front reaches ALL he way down. That pleases me. It’s also nice and curvy, none of that corrective BS Philip had us doing. Grrr. (I still hate him a little, can you tell???)
Our new orthotist, Carly, noticed that her foot doesn’t lie flat while she was molding her. So she added a wedge on the side to let her be comfortable, but also flatten her foot inside her shoe.
We left the footplate long. I told her she was going to snap it right off. But she encouraged me to give it a shot, and with her foot at this angle, it might last. I decided it can’t hurt to try, and the bottom seems very substantial!
She also raised up the heel. Amy always walks on her toes, and I thought it was because she couldn’t use her ankle. But now I’m wondering if it’s because of the alignment of her leg – as Carly suggests. Amy seems SUPER comfortable in this brace. But (unsurprisingly) her shoes don’t fit. (Sigh) So… shopping. Yay. (End sarcasm)
The bad news is that it’s making her special leg 3/4 of an inch longer than her good leg. So her hips are off now. (That’s BAD.) We’re waiting a week and a half to allow her to get used to the new brace, then going back and having a lift done. That should even her out.
At the end of the day, very, very, very pleased. Now, off to fight the good fight at the shoe store.
