Sometimes I feel like CPT is a roller coaster. Things have been pretty good for a long time. Halloween was so fun, and Amy surprised me by hardly riding in the wagon at all, preferring to a dash from one house to the other.

Wednesday night she had ballet, and afterwards she told me that she thought she danced too much. Thursday morning her limp was pretty bad, and she complained of pain and cried… but insisted on going to school after I gave her some Tylenol. After school on Thursday she complained again. Same on Friday.

Friday evening, we decided to try something new, and told her we had some medicine that would make her feel better right away. It was just some lotion I had lying around, but when I rubbed it on, she said it felt much better. Placebo working? Massage making it better?

Saturday morning, she was in tears because of pain. The temperature had been dropping, so we thought the weather could be part of the problem. So we turned on the heat for he first time this season- but it didn’t have the immediate effect of the lotion, so I reached for the bottle.

For the rest of the day, she intermittently demanded to have her brace removed and have lotion rubbed on. Her complaints of pain have never lasted this long. Now on Sunday morning, she stepped it up, refusing to put her brace on at all. So, we pulled her wheelchair out.

Amy can’t pick out one place on/in her leg where it hurts, she just wants me to “make it stop.” That’s a knife to the heart. Maybe it’s bone pain? Does she need an x-ray? An appointment with her orthopedic surgeon ASAP? A brace adjustment? Just need more attention? I hate not knowing what to do.

I put an email into the doctor. Hopefully he’ll have an idea. Until then, at least we have lotion…
