November.

Novembers have been a rough month for me lately.

In 2015, November was the year my older daughter was admitted into the hospital. Her seizures were getting closer and closer together and  becoming even more injurious. It was awful.

Last year, November 2016, Amy had had that fall and wasn’t able to walk, and was back in a cast. We were fighting like mad to see a new doctor, and roadblocks seemed to be everywhere.

This year, man…

Amy has been doing so amazingly well. She still has her tibia in one piece, which in itself AMAZING. At her last X-ray and checkup in October, I (again) brought up doing something like the McFarland Bypass to possibly straighten and strengthen her leg, as well as re-establish a healthy blood supply. This will possibly help her leg (and foot!) to start growing normally again. Her surgeon conferred with the author of the study that I brought to show him, and said Amy was an “excellent” candidate for the surgery. But, should she have it? Is the risk worth the potential gain?

I think so, but I’m not a doctor. I have 2 more agonizing weeks to wait until we have that conversation. If we all agree it’s best, who will do it? At Stanford in CA? At CHOP or Shriners in PA? At Scottish Rite in Dallas, TX? So many unknowns… this could be our miracle! Or it could cause a chain reaction that could result in breaking her leg… and more surgery, and more surgery… and possibly, amputation??? But doing nothing and waiting could lead us down the same road… or not?

Breathe.

Two more weeks.
