Amy slept through the night for the second night in a row. No painful wake ups! We got her up early and started the day with a warm bath. It was a struggle to get her in there, (she likes mornings about as much as I do) but then she started enjoying the water, and she took her morning Tylenol.

After a long soak, I got her dressed, and she tolerated her brace just fine. (So far, so good!) I asked if she wanted to walk, or use the wheelchair, and she said walk! (!!!!!) But after one step she started to cry. ? So I got her chair. Poop. So, weight bearing is still a no, but she is willing, and tolerating the brace. POSITIVES!

Heard back from her nurse. (Her doc is still in Norway.) She can be seen now, but he thinks we should wait until she has her new brace (12/12) and we’re already on the books for 12/18. When did I want to come in?

*sigh*

I would like her to be seen today… but to what end? If I go now, we’ll see a doc we’ve never met, and he’ll probably say, “well, I wonder if a new brace will help.” If I go after we get the brace, we’ll still get a doc we’ve never met, and I wonder if he might say, we’ll, let’s give her a couple days to see if she gets used to it. Or, I could just wait, and see Dr. H after delivery, when she’s had nearly a week to “get used to it.”

Too many variables man.

She’s tolerating the pain well when medicated, and vast majority of the time she’s happy and smiling. She’s also able to attend school. Her bone is intact, and healing. So, Amy’s Dad and I think we’re going to wait. A few more days won’t make much of a difference either way. But if she’s still the same by the 18th? Then maybe we need to do a trial of another cast to see if we can get some improvement in her mobility? Not sure…

(Maybe) confirming that his was the right decision, I picked Amy up from school and she was walking.

Walking badly, but walking. Not long after, she decided that was enough walking for the day, and whipped off her brace. Emotional whiplash.

One thing I do know for sure though- CPT SUCKS.
