I haven’t really been happy with Amy’s new brace for many reasons, but most were somewhat nitpicky. Two were not.

First, the looooong foot plate. Unsurprisingly, after 11 days, she managed to snap that sucker right off, leaving a dangerous point. (I had that cut and sanded off.)

Second, it’s really too short, causing her knee to stick out in an unnatural way. Worse, her doctor was displeased.

So, today we popped in real quick, but were surprised that we were remolded for a new brace. Apparently, the last mold didn’t go high enough on her leg either.

Since we were starting from scratch, I went ahead and pointed out that she needed a shorter foot plate, riveted Velcro on BOTH sides, requested that the transfer pattern be on the front piece, and now I’m excited that we will have a new, correct, comfortable brace in 1-2 weeks. ?

Surgery: No word yet. Ugggggggh!
