Well, we hoped it would last til the 19th… it didn’t. So superglue gets a great big ?? from us. No Bueno.

So, who you gonna call?

Seriously, these men and women are invaluable to me!

Anyways:

  • One person suggested superglue ??
  • Two people suggested contact cement
  • Everyone else suggested Gorilla Glue

So, what’s a girl to do?

The major downside is that it takes 24 to cure. 24 hours where she can’t use her brace. (No bueno!) Luckily, her old brace is pretty tall, and while it’s not ideal, it’s useable. So the plan was to use the old brace while the current brace cures.

So, Amy’s Dad set to work. We decided to purchase the glue pen for ease of application, and used a couple plastic clamps that Amy’s Dad uses for his modeling addiction. They weren’t quite tight enough to hold it together though, so he rolled up the glue’s packaging and stuck that in the clamp as well.

A day later, the glue is cured, and thus far I’m both happy and sad. It seems like there is a very solid bond along the white bead that appeared.

But where there is no bead, I feel like there’s a couple gaps where she might catch it.

See?

And after 24 hours of being clamped, the toe-pad is a little worse for wear.

But, we only have to last for 4 days. So that’s positive. But I’m really wanting to find a solution to this problem, because I know it’s one that we’re going to have an untold number of times in the future.

For today though, it’s on. So positives! (Please stay stuck!)
